Psychotherapy

"People start to heal the moment they feel heard."

“There is no greater agony than bearing an untold story inside of you".
Maya Angelou

We all have our own unique story; and we all deserve it to be heard in a safe space, without judgment. I have a profound respect for the courage it takes to enter a potentially vulnerable space and reflect on oneself.

Psychotherapy is a collaborative process of self-exploration. It involves the application of clinical methods and interpersonal interactions to help people recognize patterns of thought and behavior that are interfering with their internal freedom and optimal functioning. It facilitates growth and reduces emotional suffering. Through the exploration of one's thoughts and feelings, in a safe & supportive space, one can modify his/her behaviors, thinking patterns and emotions. This is a collaborative treatment, based on the relationship between the individual and his/her therapist, that makes it possible for the patient  to achieve symptom relief and a desired level of function and quality of life. The patient and therapist live and experience together, and then learn from the experience.

People seek psychotherapy for personal and unique reasons. Common themes include, but are not limited to: relationship difficulties, challenges carrying out responsibilities at school/work, a profound sense of helplessness, trauma, hopelessness, sadness, worrying excessively and always expecting the worst. Additionally, individuals may seek psychotherapy for purposes such as loving and accepting oneself more, understanding one’s purpose in life, and for an opportunity to explore and get to know oneself at a deeper level.
